Worship At Cascade UU
Sundays, 10:30am to 11:45am
Our worship services are held on Sundays at 10:30 am followed by fellowship with coffee and treats. Each service includes music, prayer or meditation, readings, lighting candles of Joy and Sorrow and a message to take home to help you through your week.
Our services draw on seven UU principles. “Unitarian Universalists hold the Principles as strong values and moral teachings. As Rev. Laura Shennum explains, “ These principles help guide us in our search for truth and meaning as individuals and as a community. They are seen as the foundation for our identity as Unitarian Universalists.”
Each month we engage in a theme for deeper understanding and exploration. During the summer months, we pick one theme for the entire summer to explore.
One special part of our services is the sharing of Joys and Sorrows. During this time we invite forward those that wish to share a significant Joy or Sorrow. In this way, we acknowledge the care we have for each other. We also embrace a sense of reverence for those in our community who are experiencing a joy, sorrow or challenge.
Those who wish to share their Joy or Sorrow are invited to come forward, light a candle, share their name and the Joy or Sorrow that is in their heart. After the sharing, we sing a responsive hymn. During the hymn, all those who wish may come forward and light a candle in silence. If you wish to have your Joy or Sorrow read by the minister or celebrant, please write it down before the service in our book that is next to the candles. If you have any questions, please ask Rev. Laura or the celebrant.
