Religious Education Director Position

Position overview:

The Religious Education Director manages and oversees the Religious Education Program for the children and youth of CUUF from nursery through high school.

Office Hours and Supervision

• On-site for majority of Sundays from 10am to noon
• 40 hours total a month from mid-August to first Sun in June
• Attendance at weekly staff meetings
• Supervised by the Minister
• Compensation starts at $15/hr

Responsibilities:

            Administrative

• Program and curriculum development
• Materials and space preparation
• Budget monitoring and development
• Record keeping (Registration, Attendance)
• Monitor safety of program, including background checks

Communication

• RE Order of Service weekly insert
• Monthly Newsletter article
• Monthly Report to Board of Trustees
• Greet new families on Sunday

Volunteer Coordination

• Recruit teachers/advisors
• Train teachers/advisors
• Support teachers/advisors (meetings/reminders/materials)
• On call as needed in classroom

Childcare

• Supervise Childcare Coordinator
• Assist Childcare Coordinator in hiring

Worship

• Collaborate with Minister as needed
• Finds and tells Time for All Ages story or recruits a storyteller.

Skills Needed:

Computer skills

Degree in Education, Child Development or similar degree or relevant experience considered.

Experience with children and managing volunteers
