What Are We Waiting For?

In this time of anticipation, let us reflect on what it is we are waiting for and what we can be doing. Are we waiting for someone else to act or react? Or is it within our own power to step up?

A Blues Song Waiting to Happen

Amy Winehouse says, “A bad situation is a blues song waiting to happen.” We are dealt a bad situation the hardest part can be waiting to see what happens. The unknowns are the hardest to hold. What can we do during the time of waiting to ease our soul, to calm our mind, and to soften our heart? This will be a traditional service and children will be in classrooms.

Called to Be Transformers

No matter how the election results turn out, we are at a critical point in our society. We are called to step into the space of transformation. Let’s look at our history for guidance and find ways to be transformers in our world.

I Do Not Like It Here Or There

In Dr Seuss’ famous book, “Green Eggs and Ham” we learn the lesson of trying new things and taking a risk. We will have fun with this idea this morning and find ways to embrace this lesson in our own lives.

Put Your Burden Down

Forgiveness, it can pull on us and drag us done. How do we learn to let go of the burdens of anger, resentment, and disappointment with our self and others? This morning, we will have the opportunity to participate in a ritual to help us put those burdens down.

Community of Healing

We will gather together to understand how we can provide healing to each other. We will work in small groups and offer ways to show support as well as care.

Creating the Beloved Community

What do we mean when we say Beloved Community? What are the origins of this idea? This morning, we will look at the history of this concept and learn our part in creating it.

Freedom!

[Newcomer Chat Sunday] What does it mean to have a ‘free’ search for truth and meaning? We will explore how freedom is a gift and a blessing that comes with great responsibility.

How Do We Search For Meaning

We often acknowledge truth in our search for what we believe. Where does meaning fit in? We will look at how we create meaning in our lives. How can we do this responsibly? Where do we find the sources to search?
